Dr. Melissa Sorci is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist with over a 15 years of experience working with preschoolers, children, adolescents and young adults in a variety of settings.  She has worked in the non-profit , public and private sectors serving as a clinician, consultant and diagnostician.  Her specialty is the psychoeducational assessment of school aged children.  She has a depth of experience in the identification of developmental delays, learning disability detection, intra-cognitive processing awareness, diagnosis of mental illness, and parenting assistance.  Dr. Sorci is often called upon by parents and professionals to explore difficult diagnostic situations to assist in treatment planning and intervention.

Dr. Sorci completed her bachelor’s in Psychology and master’s in Counseling Psychology both at Santa Clara University.  She earned her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from The Fielding Graduate University.  A frequent speaker, Dr. Sorci has been asked to present on a wide range of topics to parents and professionals.

As a mother of two young children, she understands the need for compassion, empathy and clear explanation when communicating a child’s needs to their parents.  It is her belief that a testing report is merely a waste of paper if a family does not fully understand the contents. In her work, Dr. Sorci strives to create an interactive relationship with the family. This relationship and trust is vital to helping parents best understand what changes need to be made for their family to experience more success – academically, emotionally, behaviorally, or interpersonally.

When not working with clients, Dr. Sorci enjoys spending time with her family, reading, cooking, practicing yoga, or walking the family dog, Joey.  An avid baseball fan, originally from New York, she cherishes catching nine innings here and there when she can.
